Highest Principles of Living

This is what "hospitality" means to me...

February 7, 2017

Hospitality is a feeling. It’s about providing service to others in trust. It really is about smiles and sharing in the spirit of love. The “host/hostess” extends their own personality and style in a place where people can express their authentic self.

Hospitality is place where everyone can be exceptional individuals.

Chevalier Louis de Jaucourt, a French scholar and the most prolific contributor to the Encyclopédie, describes Hospitality this way: “virtue of a great soul that cares for the whole universe through the ties of humanity.”

Hospitality is about being welcoming, amiable, courteous, attentive, and gracious, demonstrating consistent excellence and quality. It is not about being “cast” as a servant, but about giving of self in service, providing value and worth while demonstrating your own unique points of distinction.

Hospitality refers to the relationship between a guest and a host, wherein the host receives the guest with goodwill, including the reception and entertainment of guests, visitors, or strangers.” ~ Wikipedia

Inspiration

January 28, 2017

Christian D. Larson, of Optimist International, encouraged such things as "Promise yourself to talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person you meet." Does this thought inspire you?

Perhaps inspiration means something different to you. Whatever that "different" is, prepare to put some action behind it, or it may not be an inspirational thought which triggers change in you.

Inspiration is like breathing in. In-spire. Breathing in the essence of a thought brings life into you and creates a momentum into action. Inspiration requires becoming involved with the thought, with the action, and with the making the inspirational thought a part of your life.

Concerned Silence

December 16, 2016

I love the quote by Mark Nepo: “To listen is to lean in, softly, with a willingness to be changed by what we hear.”

In the loving gesture of listening, when we are that intimate, we create a golden connection, one with concern. Preparing ourselves with rap attention, we listen to the words of details being spoken. This opens a dimension only to be felt by intimacy.

To sincerely have listened is to harvest the highest of available details. With the greatest of interest we respond to link our heart with the mind that designed the utterance. Alas! A memorable network takes the soul to worlds unknown. The place of rendezvous reaches its summit.

Taking a Fresh Look at Life

November 23, 2016

Have we forgotten how to smell the flowers because we are too busy with distracting details in our lives? When we truly desire refreshment and beauty in our life, we only need to look within. But desire alone will not bring about a beautiful world for us. It requires action! So, where do we begin? Wanting a refreshment in life requires looking at character qualities in ourselves.

For centuries now, humans have been repeating patterns of behavior that are outdated and useless in creating a progressive lifestyle. The results of these outdated designs are not bringing us satisfaction nor a world of happiness. Have we forgotten our own creativity? Perhaps we have forgotten the feeling that generated from within us as a result of a particular creative expression. You may remember how it felt back when you were a child and played in the mud or when you created a masterpiece after sticking your hands in finger paints! When we were children we all had an abundance of creative energy: building snow men, making bouquets of wild flowers, stringing popcorn necklaces, or painting a happy face on a river rock. Have we left all of these creative moments behind as simple memories? Has life become too stressful and distracting? Perhaps we must sit back for a moment and take account. What has happened? Why must our creative energy stay buried with those treasures of our past? Have we really forgotten how to live in the moment and be present, creating beauty and bliss?

There are definitely certain qualities to cultivate if one is to find joy and maintain a fresh outlook in life. Below is a list of 12 qualities you might find nourishing and helpful in rekindling buried child-like freshness. Challenge yourself to greater creativity!

Take a new look at your life; decide if you have merely cloaked treasured childhood memories or have entombed a creative spirit too.
